We hear the saying, “April Showers bring May flowers” often but I thought I would elaborate on it a little and explore how it can apply to yoga off the mat.

Seasonally speaking, the rain nourishes the land as the sun warms and produces the growth we see flourishing during spring. It is necessary and so it is. Although some relate to rainy days as bad, I think about it as nurturing as it clears the unsettled dust away bringing fresh perspective.

When it comes to the rain (metaphorically speaking) in our lives, we too can often view it as uncomfortable or “bad” when in reality it’s necessary and so it is. It’s our challenges that help us grow. If we wait and breathe through it you will see it too is clearing the unsettled dust away and bringing forth fresh perspective.

So, next time it’s raining in your life, breathe and trust as these showers wash over you, flowers will bloom.
